Flooring questions
Useful answers before you start.
01Which floor works best in a kitchen?+
Porcelain and ceramic tile are highly durable and water-resistant. Luxury vinyl is comfortable and practical, while engineered hardwood and waterproof laminate add a warmer look. The right choice depends on moisture, traffic, care, and the rest of the home.
02How long does a washroom renovation take?+
A typical washroom renovation can take roughly four to five working days, depending on demolition, repair, plumbing, tile setting, curing, grout, fixtures, and the scope of custom work.
03Which tile works best in a washroom?+
Porcelain is the strongest all-round choice for water resistance and durability. Ceramic can suit lighter-duty walls, while natural stone needs more sealing and care. In wet floor areas, finish and slip resistance matter as much as appearance.
04What is the Schluter system?+
Schluter products form a coordinated waterproofing, uncoupling, trim, shower, and floor-heating system. Used correctly, they help control moisture, reduce cracking risk, and create cleaner transitions.
05Porcelain or ceramic?+
Porcelain is denser, less porous, and generally more resistant to moisture, scratches, and heavy use. Ceramic is easier to cut and often more affordable, making it useful for lower-traffic residential walls and floors.
06How can tile cracking be reduced?+
Start with a stable, level substrate; use the correct membrane, mortar, movement joints, and grout spacing; follow curing times; and avoid heavy impact. Good preparation is the most important part of a durable installation.
07What flooring works well in a bedroom?+
Hardwood and engineered hardwood feel timeless, carpet adds softness, luxury vinyl is practical, and laminate offers an approachable wood look. Comfort, allergies, climate, care, and budget should guide the decision.
08Why choose quartz for a countertop?+
Quartz is durable, non-porous, stain-resistant, and easy to clean. It comes in many consistent colours and patterns and does not require the routine sealing associated with many natural stones.
